JODAN JUN ZUKI to Zenkutsu Dachi

  1. Maintain straight upper body
  2. Fists must be made properly tight – use first 2 knuckles Seiken
  3. Proper aim at target – Jinchu for jodan. Between nose and upper lip.
  4. Shoulders should not be raised nor pushed forward to generate power.
  5. Punching and pulling motion at same time
  6. Zenkutsu dachi
  • Width of stance is width of hips
  • Length of stance is 2x width
  • Front knee is bent fully over front toes, back leg is extended.
  • Front foot is facing forward slightly turned inside, back foot same direction as front foot
  • Soles of the feet flat on the floor
  • Legs are tight, knees pushing in the opposite direction.
  • Weight distribution is 60/40
  • Hips are straight. Facing forward.

JODAN AGE UKE to Zenkutsu Dachi

  1. Use outer aspect of wrist sharp upper motion
  2. Elbow of the blocking arm should course along the side of the body
  3. Arms form a cross in front of the chin, back of fists facing forward, blocking arm on the outside
  4. The raised forearm is parallel to the forehead, slightly on an angle and one fist away from the forehead.
  5. Zenkutsu dachi 
  • Width of stance is width of hips
  • Length of stance is 2x width
  • Front knee is bent fully over front toes, back leg is extended.
  • Front foot is facing forward slightly turned inside, back foot same direction as front foot

CHUDAN SOTO UKE to Zenkutsu Dachi

  1. Blocking elbow should be bent at a right angle raised to the outside, forearm vertical to floor. 
  2. Firmly strike with the outer aspect of the wrist, in a circular motion from outside to in  keeping right angle
  3. The blocking arm elbow position is 1 fist away from body and fist is at shoulder level
  4. Blocking and pulling motion at same time
  5. Cover solar plex trajectory
  6. Zenkutsu dachi 
  • Width of stance is width of hips
  • Length of stance is 2x width
  • Front knee is bent fully over front toes, back leg is extended.
  • Front foot is facing forward slightly turned inside, back foot same direction as front foot

  1. Elbow should be bent at right angle
  2. Firmly strike with the inner aspect of the wrist, starting from opposite hip in a circular from inside to outside motion keeping right angle
  3. The elbow position is 1 fist away from body and fist is at shoulder level
  4. Blocking and pulling motion at same time
  5. Zenkutsu dachi 
  • Width of stance is width of hips
  • Length of stance is 2x width
  • Front knee is bent fully over front toes, back leg is extended.

  1. The hand doing the block is positioned at the lower part of the ear and blocking downward on an angel , relax the elbow
  2. The hand that is blocking, uses a twisting motion to block with the arm extended fully
  3. Outer aspect of the wrist used to block
  4. Blocking and pulling motion at same time
  5. Zenkutsu dachi

MAE GERI-CHUDAN From Heisoku Dachi to ZENKUTSU DACHI, GEDAN KAKIWAKE KAMAI)

  1. Upper body and back should be kept straight
  2. To kick, the knee is raised high up with the heel pulled close to the body.
  3. Both feet, knees and toes are pointing toward target
  4. There are no lateral movement of the upper body
  5. For kicking foot, ensure to use ball of foot ( koshi )
  6. Supporting leg is strong, knee slightly bent.
  7. Kicking leg knee is relaxed, spring motion and sharp retraction.
